Dear Jude...

I have decided to write you a note, every once in awhile, to let you know what you mean to my life.  I will let you know interesting things I notice as I get to watch you grow and learn from day to day.

Tonight, as I walked down the stairs from laying you down for bed, I realized there is a lot more out of place these days. Now that we have moved, we are no longer limited by space. You are able to have a lot more of your toys out to play with, which has peaked your interest in playing with a variety of different toys at once!  

I began picking up all the balls, play food, blocks, puzzles, books and other random toys. I would guess that some parents may not enjoy this routine every night, but I actually look forward to it!  Not only because I am a neat freak and want everything in its place, but because I love it when I find something out of place that I never even knew you had played with that day.  It reminds me how proud I am of you!  You have gained so much independence in a very short amount of time.  Your Daddy and I think often about this, actually.  We are always amazed when we think how you were born only 19 months ago... six pounds even!!  You were our sweet, tiny, little newborn... and most of that is changing, but you have never lost your sweetness!  You are sweeter now than ever before!!! :) 

I love getting to watch you grow bigger, stronger, faster, and smarter every single day! :D

Mommy Note

So until last night, Jude was on a 2 week streak of needing me laying next to him in his toddler bed to fall asleep.  He was getting up to play with a couple of his toys we had in his room.  At first, as long as I came in, put him back in bed, and laid down next to him, he would take just a few minutes to fall asleep, knowing I was there.  Well.... that 5 minutes kept getting longer... Tuesday night it took 45 MINUTES of laying there in his toddler bed (with my restless leg syndrome acting up!) for him to go to sleep!  I was so frustrated!  THEN, to top it off, Wednesday night he got up in the middle of the night at 1 am!  (AND... He doesn't wake up crying.  He wakes up and goes to start playing with his toys.  I wake up to "chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a chug a-- Choo Choo!!" over the baby monitor!)  So, I get up, go open his door, pull him away from the toys, lay him in his bed.... then.... lay beside him for the next TWO HOURS!!!  He would just babble, and his eyes would continuously open and close... and he would NOT FALL ASLEEP!  I had had it at that point.
I decided to take those toys out of his room, yesterday morning.  He did better staying in his bed for his nap.  I only had to go in once to put him back in bed.  Then, last night, he stayed in his bed from when I laid him down, to when he fell asleep!  He didn't get up once!  He played with his Scout for a little bit... then was OUT!  During his nap today, he did get out, but, it was so he could go poop.  I went in, changed his diaper, and he was sawing logs before I knew it!  Tonight, when I laid him down for bed,  he played with Scout again.... but was fast asleep before long!  Never got out of bed!!!  I am so excited that he is back to sleeping ON HIS OWN! 
I was starting to get worried I was ruining our AWESOME SLEEPER by sleeping next to him, but all along, I just needed to take those toys out of there!  YAY!!!

*I do realized it's only been two days, but I am hopeful it will stick! :D

In recent news, I may have said "All done" a couple of times.  Since I don't talk much (if at all...), it was very cool for Mommy and Nana to hear! 
I also showed my skills at knowing many of the letters of the alphabet.  Yesterday, I went to Aunt Lindsey's new place.  She has Boggle, which I dumped all over the floor.  When Mommy was helping me put the letters back in the box, she laid a few out and asked me to find a certain letter.  Everyone was shocked when I was picking up the right letters she asked!  I guess they don't realize... I know a lot more than they think I do! :D

Big Boy hair!

Mommy and Daddy took me yesterday to get my hair cut for the first time.  I was a little scared at first, (I don't know if you've heard, but I am a bit shy around new people...) but Mommy held me tight, and Daddy held his phone in front of my face while it played my favorite show, so I was pretty content with that!  It felt pretty good actually, and I just love the way my hair feels now!  No more hair in my eyes, over my ears, or laying on my neck!  Mommy says she will miss my curls, but that she wanted to give me a cool hair cut for the summer!  You may see my luscious locks again in the winter! :)

So long beach bum hair.... I will miss you!
